ASI Reaches Para Athletes

ASI has had several different para athletes  attend Bible studies.  ASI began work specifically with para shooters in 2018.

Ricky and Ben, two resident para judo players faithfully attended the Thursday night Bible study for a couple of years.  One night in the spring of 2018, they invited Stetson, a para shooter to the study.

Stetson had many questions regarding the study.   A few months later, Stetson trusted Jesus as his savor and Tony Silengo started to load for Stetson daily in shooting range.  Over time, Stetson and Tony became a team, working toward the 2020 Paralympics and serving Jesus through the sport of shooting.

Stetson went to the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo and placed 8th.  Stetson continued to compete a few more years and retired in 2024.  Stetson lives in Texas now and is happily married.

Because of Stetson and Tony’s relationship, Tony continues to work with para shooters daily at the OPTC shooting range and has seen many new believers as a result; one of these new believers is Issy, a lady para shooter from Great Britain born again at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games!
